Colin Powell blasts GOP's "intolerance"

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell blasted the GOP for "intolerance." Powell, a man I respect for greatly for his achievements, is far off base. This one comment about the Republican Party jumped out at me.
"If it's just going to represent the far right wing of the political spectrum, I think the party is in difficulty,"
What? Far right wing? The Republican Party is anything but far right. And if Mr. Powell is a moderate who is concerned about extremism, how can he align himself with Nancy Pelosi (and her soul mate President Barack Obama)?

The United States has gone so far to the left, we have no idea what moderate means. The entire so-called social safety net, especially government-controlled retirement planning, is an invention of the left. The fact no one in the GOP is trying to really dismantle it says volumes. Little "r" republicanism is what the GOP should represent. Would Powell call that "extreme?" If so, the framers of the Constitution were extreme.
