Unemployment in France surpasses three million. Still, the French geniuses chose to put their government in the hands of socialists. This is sad and frightening evidence that people don't learn their lessons.
I suspect that the current citizenry of the US will be the same and fail to learn that socialism, massive government and ever-expanding debt will not create prosperity. Barack Obama continues to show strongly in all national polls.
