Independence Day - A Time to Celebrate Capitalism

At a time when it seems that our federal government is running rampant and seizing more control of our lives, it's important to remember what it means to be America. This nation wasn't intended to be a socialist utopia. America did not achieve its prominence or position as the world's only superpower by being a nanny state.

Capitalism, unfortunately, has become a dirty word. Yet, it is the reason for our nation's success. An individuals desire to work hard and prosper, yes in his OWN SELF INTEREST, in not evil. Somehow that notion has become anathema.

We fail to realize that the risk takers, those who step out and take chances, are the ones who actually create wealth. Wealth doesn't just exist. People create wealth for themselves, their families and for their descendants. It is not for us to envy them and to use the power of the state to seize their property. Their wealth isn't evil. ENVY is what is evil.

We now have society and a government that no longer believe in the notion of freedom and personal choice, except when it comes to abortion. Those in power, and too many citizens, no longer believe in charity. Envy and the desire to use the force of government guns is how we have decided we must achieve our supposedly altruistic aims. This is tyranny. This is how all communist despots come to power.

This is NOT AMERICA.

This is what we must remember on this Independence Day.
And Then There Were 7!!!
It looks like Kim Jong-ILL actually fired off 7 missiles. Still no word from the White House. Not surprising. Just sad. Such leadership.
