Governor Mark Sanford - Another Failed Marriage Due to Infidelity

Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina has returned from his escape to Argentina and confessed to being unfaithful to his wife and family. First, I have to make it clear that I'm not writing about this because I want to gossip or judge Governor Sanford. I don't know what caused this episode in his marriage.

I do know the pain that comes with a sense of that kind of betrayal. I feel for Sanford's wife and children. It's hard to imagine living through that shame and rejection in front of the whole nation. This is a sad, tragic circumstance.

What really made me react to this wasn't the politician part or even the philandering. My motivation was simple. I'm tired of seeing marriages fall apart.

Time and again, I have seen a recurring problems with marriages - selfishness and unrealistic expectations. People don't enter into marriage with an understanding that it cannot be about what you can get out of someone else or what someone else can do for you. While I believe that life with the right partner and best friend should be enjoyable, the reality is that life is not always "fun." Crap happens. Couples have to face pain together.

Despite the chaos I see all around, I still believe it's possible to have a loving, satisfying, committed, monogamous, lifelong marriage.

God help us all. It has to be possible.

Stop Cap and Trade Madness
Please contact your U.S. senators and representative to let them know that you are opposed to the insane cap and trade bill. This nonsensical bill will raise our prices on every form of energy and just provoke more companies to relocate to countries where they don't play the global socialist, fake environmentalist games.

This crew doesn't care about you or the environment. It's about control and bringing America down to "reduce disparities between the 'haves' and 'have nots.'"

Why should Americans have a higher standard of living and enjoy the use of the world's natural resources (that we pay for)?

If Waxman/Obama and the neosocialists who hide behind environmentalism really cared about pollution, they'd be focused on countries like India, China and Mexico.

Oppose them at every turn.

Pork...It's the New White House Meat

Looking at the billions of dollars in pork that were crammed into the "emergency" war funding bill, one realizes that things haven't CHANGEd at all in Washington D.C. For all of the talk about holding down spending and being more accountable, the Obama administration and the Democrat-led Congress are on a record-breaking spending binge. They're intoxicated by the power.

I knew it would be this way when Candidate Barack Obama basically mocked John McCain for wanting to ban earmarks. To politicians like Mr. Obama, a few billion dollars here and a few billion dollars there, doesn't really make a difference...especially not when you think in terms of spending TRILLIONS.

Look at what you're buying in a war funding bill.

• $1 billion "cash for clunkers" auto trade-in program
• $5 billion to help the International Monetary Fund (Yes, we're borrowing money from China to put money into the IMF. Brilliant)
• $7.7 billion to help fight swine flu
