Right-wing Women or Left-wing Women

Okay, I had a good chuckle at this article by Ian Robinson "Right-wing women rock." I'm surprised that it came out of Canada, but it's close enough to America to perhaps still ring true.

Robinson's piece extolls the virtues of conservative women and their superiority to liberal women. Apolitical or clueless women don't merit mention. Why bother?

Anyway, it' s worth a read.

Must disagree. I'm republican, wife is democrat. Can I confess, I wish she would stop buying high heeled shoes? She works harder than anyone I know, including me.

My wife sent me this article a few years ago (before she was my wife)...Must say parts are true...

Funny read though.

Thanks for sharing Frederick. I read that piece and it made some of the more foolish statements I've ever read. The suggestion that conservatives somehow are repressed or only turned on by war and violence is far beyond the lighthearted take given by Ian Robinson. It's that kind of viciousness so common on the left and it certainly doesn't mean one is more loving or passionate. Being loose doesn't mean one is a good lover. Some of us believe in quality over quantity anyway. We also like showers and prefer shaved legs and pits. :)

So, I do realize this article is completely “just in fun.” In addition, really just utilizing some silly stereotypes about left wing v right wing women. It certainly made me laugh! While I certainly cannot speak for all left-wing women (or right wing women), I suppose if I had to label myself, I would fall into the category of “left-wing woman.” It got me thinking about my current day today & how this is the first time, I am taking a break…

(continued post as somehow I typed for five straight minutes too many characters and I have to post it in seperate comments).

Today, I woke up early & exercised in my living room, as this left-wing woman, possesses the self-discipline to exercise herself & views an expensive gym membership as a waste of her hard-earned dollars. She does not need to belong to a gym to exercise, she is accountable to herself. I of course hopped in the shower (nothing is more enjoyable to this left-wing woman than a hot, long shower) & shaved my legs (as I do almost every day, although this left wing woman prefers waxing as it lasts longer, equaling more efficiency & the results are smoother, especially if she had that special someone touching her legs). I then walked in my three-inch stiletto Aldo Boots, no Birkenstocks, to the bus stop while calling my family & friends. This left wing woman loves the people in her life. This left wing woman utilizes public transportation as much she can & took the bus to get to her public policy graduate class. This left wing woman finds walking keeps her in shape & public transportation, well, it saves money & it allows me to help the environment. Did I mention it also precludes me sitting in traffic, thus saving time? I rushed home from class only to rush to work, because this left wing woman juggles both graduate school & work.
This left wing woman realizes that a car is necessary in the city she lives in, as public transportation is not always available. In purchasing her car, she chose practical & fuel efficient, because she values her money. While she does not have any children now, she realizes that if she did, she would need to upgrade from her Toyota Yaris. However, she would not need to drive a SUV gas-hogging vehicle to feel like a security mom, she instead would find something practical & gas efficient to save money for her family & yes, help the environment.

This left wing woman shops in one of three grocery stores within walking distance to her apartment. She likes to buy local & organic if she can. She loves her local Whole Foods, Market District, & Trader Joes. All, offer her the chance to buy quality food at a convenient place for her. She also buys what is on sale & she cuts coupons. This left wing woman chose where lived strategically, as she would never waste time, gas, or money to find her local farmer’s market. Frankly, she does not have the time.

This left wing woman studies public policy, because she believes she can make a difference. While she never plans to run for office, she certainly loves to see women involved in politics, as she loves politics too. When she looks at the US Congress, she realizes that twenty-two percent of House Democrats are women, but only 9.5 percent of House Republicans are. In the Senate, nearly 23 percent of the Democrats are women, but only 10 percent of the Republicans are (Source Politico.com). While she would not vote for Sarah Palin or Elizabeth Dole, she defends them just as much when they experience blatant sexism by the media. She would love to see more women involved, including the minority within the minority of Republican women.

This 5”8 left wing woman loves shoes & admits that her collection of 65 pairs of three inch or higher heels might be too much. Some men might be intimidated by her height, but this left-wing woman loves her heels. She also loves shopping, not just for herself but also for others. She justifies her shoes on the money she saves in many of her life choices, (transportation, & no gym membership, frugal with utilities).
Moreover, while she does not eat steak, she would make it for that special person in her life. In fact, her frugality would allow her to splurge on not just the steak, but organic asparagus, & incredible cheese & most important, a great bottle of wine too.
This left wing woman is single, independent, & does not need anyone to take care of her, not the government, not a man. However, when she meets the right man, she would want nothing more than them both to take care of each other.

Thanks Mr. Durden for sharing. I think this humored (and partisan) light-hearted article can actually help show how much we all stereotype sometimes and how silly it really is...I might be left, but I value the right.

Made me laugh reading this and was exactly what I needed at the end of this night. Great articles, Mr. Durden. BTW, I did laugh at the "under my bus." I have not been to your site in a few days and I enjoy visiting your site to see it from the other side of the coin...

Now, this left-wing woman will be working on her graduate thesis(:
