Attorney General Eric Holder went ahead and released secret documents that the current CIA director (Panetta) and the previous two directors all wanted kept secret. This docudump is all a political calculation to bring back the specter of George W. Bush, please the far Left, and distract for the collapsing health care takeover plan. Holder also plans on pursuing prosecution of CIA personnel who did their best to keep us safe. Make no mistake, President Barack Obama is completely on board with this. The Attorney General serves at the discretion of the president.
Meanwhile, Holder decided against prosecuting members of the Black Panther Party who stood outside polling stations with clubs, shouting obscenities and threats at white people. This voter intimidation was clearly a violation of election law. If it had been done by the KKK, the national outcry would be deafening and Holder would rightfully throw the book at the violators.
Message to Mr. Holder: Justice is justice. Holder is releasing the documents and pursuing prosecution of CIA personnel to make a point that if the US allows torture we're no better than the terrorists. Holder needs to understand that if he doesn't prosecute Black Panthers, he's no better than Bull Connor.
All of this is being done under Barack Obama's leadership. This president likes to pass off the responsibility for things on others, but either he's a leader or just a figurehead. Mr. Obama should have the courage to say what he wants or doesn't want, but he is a master of calculated misdirection, doublespeak and cynical politics.
I'm not dumb enough to fall for it. Hopefully the majority of American people won't be so dumb in 2012.
