I was quick and crazy enough to come out immediately and praise the people of Honduras for getting rid of that Hugo Chavez wannabe, Manuel Zelaya. Somehow I knew Barack Obama would be on the wrong side of the issue. Well, speaking out in condemnation wasn't enough. President Obama is playing hardball.Obama has shut off U.S. military aid and now threatens to end even humanitarian aid. Still, the people of Honduras remain committed to keeping Chavez protege' Manuel Zelaya from dominating their country. These people, unlike us, seem to prepared to give up promises of pampering and security in exchange for freedom.
Since Honduras doesn't qualify for aid, why not end all U.S. aid around the world? My non-interventionist friends should appreciate that. This is especially timely since our government is broke.
Should Mr. Obama follow through on his efforts to put Zelaya back in place, perhaps through charity we can help the people of Honduras. I'm always more of an advocate for exercising personal charity by choice instead of force anyway.
