There are 3 thing we all can learn from Iran's recent election.
- We do not want a government run by any religious organization. The ayatollah's demonstrate the problem with giving all power to any group of religious fanatics. While any kind of fanatics, even atheist fanatics, are a problem, Iran's leaders show what makes America so special. We must depend on the Constitution and abide by the rule of law. That is the only way justice can be applied evenly on behalf of all of the people. The leaders in Iran are bent on the destruction of Israel and, make no mistake, America and all of western civilization. The feel they empowered by God to do so. That self-righteousness is what makes their brand of government extremely dangerous.
- The people will only take so much. Mr. Ahmadenijad is amused at the game that he and the mullahs are playing with the Iranian people's votes. They will learn, as all tyrannical governments eventually learn, that the people will make their voices heard. At least their people are aware and passionate about their rights, not just rioting because of a sporting event.
- Barack Obama seems to fail understanding the nature of our enemy. To quote Mr. Ahmadenijad upon his assumption of the presidency in 2005:
"As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map"
These people don't mince words. They have made it clear that if Iran is destroyed in retaliation for using a nuclear weapon on Israel that would be a divine blessing. To them it is their god-given duty to destroy Israel. Mr. Obama makes the same mistake with general Islamic radicalism. He narrowly defines the threat against us as Al-qaeda when the threat we face is far larger than one organization.
