I'm Only Going After THEM
It's sad that we have a President and a society that feels like it's justifiable to penalize people for success. I think most Americans really do think that they're the only ones who pay taxes and that "the rich" don't. Here's the problem:

WE ALREADY HAVE A "PROGRESSIVE" TAX SYSTEM.

I don't know why this is so hard to understand.

Families with incomes over $250,000/yr ALREADY pay their fair share and more. People in the top tax bracket already pay 40 cents on every dollar in income tax they earn to the federal government. Then they pay the social security and other taxes. That already puts them at 50% of their money in taxes just to the federal government. Then they probably have state taxes, property taxes, of course sales taxes, etc.

These evil rich people would pay more than the average person even if we had a flat tax (10% of $250,000 is $25,000). That is more than the salary of some of the people who aren't paying taxes and yet will still get a check from the Treasury under the new system.

This kind of redistribution is NOT the government's job. It isn't right. It's not my money. It's not your money. Wealth belongs to the people who earned it.

I don't care if their great great grandparents owned slaves. I don't care if their grandparents were bootleggers. I don't care if they made a fortune on real estate even. IT'S NOT OUR MONEY TO TAKE.

These people used to give to charity but I don't think they'll have much left. That's the goal of the socialists though: make us all dependent on the federal government and not each other.

Atlas is getting weary.

I remember my dad explaining this to me when I was in high school - that the wealthy already pay most of the taxes, and how that all worked - and furthermore saying that he remembered when the government's bright idea was to hike taxes on boats, private planes, etc, and what happened was not that more taxes were raised, but that those who wanted such items simply bought them elsewhere. It damaged industry rather than increasing revenue.
