Obama is a Socialist
Okay, I wouldn't just say that. I try not to just loosely throw around labels. That statement isn't meant as a personal attack. It's no more of an insult than saying McCain is a federalist. It reflects his philosophy on the role of government.
I have read Senator Obama's positions on his website, not that he provides many details. He keeps things so vague and shallow that it's hard to know what he would actually do in office. The main thing I have done is listen to his rhetoric. When he does get specific, it is all about bigger government. He's about government "solving the problems" of everyday life. That's NOT what the American federal government was established to do. Government must protect the rights and property of individuals....NOT redistribute income, NOT make sure that no one ever faces the consequences of their decisions.
Anyone who doesn't believe Obama is a socialist should just look at his short record in the US Senate. Bernie Sanders is the only US Senator who is an open socialist. The amazing thing about this? Barack Obama's record is MORE to the left than Sanders'. If that doesn't convince you not to support him, nothing will.
I won't drink the Obama-Aid. I cannot even consider giving the seat of president to someone who is more to the left than the Senate's only socialist. And with that I'm pretty much done with Obama. I wouldn't vote for him under any circumstances, especially not with Pelosi and Reid in charge of Congress.
So, in coming weeks I'll start making the case for John McCain. Is McCain my perfect candidate? No, but who is? I believe McCain will take steps to limit the size and scope of government. I believe he will oppose the Pelosi-Reid coalition in spending us into oblivion on things that should never be undertaken by our federal government. McCain will appoint justices to the Supreme Court who are strict constructionist, not those who want to change the foundation of our laws to accommodate the whims of activists. I believe McCain will implement pro-growth strategies such as lower corporate and individual taxes. I believe, most importantly, that he will provide the leadership necessary to keep our nation secure.
In order to stem the tide of socialism in America, John McCain is currently our best hope.
